You may have spotted that there was not an entry form for the Summer Gardens Competition in December's Parish Record magazine. This was not an oversight...

Since its relaunch in 2007, this has been a highlight in the Parish Council calendar, but it does take an enormous amount of volunteer effort and the organisers think that the competition is in need of a refresh, so that it appeals to a wider group of gardeners, involves all our local schools in a more project-based approach and is more focused on our environment, conservation and sustainability. We have also had feedback that for many gardeners the judging is not at the best time of year. A Spring Gardens competition would bring some very different entries and an Autumn competition would be more appropriate for allotments.

At the present time, with the Coronavirus pandemic facing us, it is also potentially irresponsible to be going ahead with an event which brings a lot of people together at an Awards evening (and before that when the judges visit the homes and gardens of entrants!)

As soon as we have our new look competition, there will be an announcement.
